AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
A period document, this old share certificate from the Compañia Minera Las Dos Estrellas originates from Mexico and dates from September 20, 1948, as indicated by the inscription visible in the bottom right. The document features a large rectangular sheet, predominantly aqua green and white, with a wide decorative frieze of star motifs around its entire perimeter. In the center, the company name is printed in green capital letters on a white background, framed by a graphic line. The mention "CAPITAL SOCIAL" (SHARE CAPITAL) is clearly visible in the upper left, as is the face value of 600,000 Mexican pesos.
The upper part of the document contains several inscriptions printed in Spanish and French, describing the terms of possession and transfer of the share. Two distinct areas in the upper left and right display the serial numbers: "SERIE A TITULO N° 132236" and "SERIE A ACCION N° 267236". A handwritten signature of an advisor is also discernible at the bottom of the central part.
The lower part of the document is occupied by a series of detachable coupons numbered 1 to 20, each bearing the company name, serial number, and starry graphic motifs typical of the era. These coupons exhibit clear and regular printing, with the same dominant green on a white background.
The whole is presented on a wooden furniture background, which highlights the pale hue of the paper and emphasizes the vintage aesthetic of this historical financial document. No major defects are visible on the exposed face: no apparent stains, marked creases, or tears in the visible area. The paper's patina suggests careful preservation.
This type of bearer share represents a historical testament to the Mexican mining industry of the mid-20th century, both by its period graphics and by the presence of original, undetached coupons. The ensemble constitutes a choice piece for the history of financial paper and the iconography of international mining companies.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The exposed face is in very good visual condition, with no major apparent defects. The inscriptions are perfectly legible.
Did you know? The Compañia Minera Las Dos Estrellas was one of Mexico's most important gold mining companies in the early 20th century, particularly in the state of Michoacán. Bearer shares, such as this document, allowed their holder to anonymously claim dividends, a common practice before the widespread use of registered shares.
