Description

This document, visible in the photo, is an old bearer share issued by the "Mines de Matracal" company, located in the State of Durango. The visual shows a certificate with decorated borders of a grey-green guilloche pattern, typical of French financial documents from the early 20th century. The mention "Part Bénéficiaire au Porteur" (Bearer Profit Share) as well as the issue number are prominently displayed, accompanied by several red "MINES DE MATRACAL" stamps.

The upper part presents the main title "MINES DE MATRACAL", with classic ornamental frames and precise indications: capital of 1,000,000 francs, registered office in Paris, and apparent handwritten date (March 15, 1920). Printed signatures and official stamps are also visible, reinforcing the visual authenticity of this period document.

The lower part of the document consists of detachable coupons, numbered 1 to 20, each bearing the mention "Part Bénéficiaire N° 012754" and mentions such as "cinquième coupon" (fifth coupon), "sixième coupon" (sixth coupon), etc. These coupons are marked with a red stamp reproducing the company's "MM" monogram. The coupon frames are a pale yellow tone with black details, contrasting with the cooler hue of the upper part.

The paper shows a slight patina and undulations, testifying to the document's age. No chips, tears, or significant handwritten annotations are visible on the front presented. The whole is well preserved for an object of this period.

This type of bearer share was common in mining and industrial companies in the first half of the 20th century, serving to formalize ownership and the right to dividends through physical possession of the document.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Slight signs of handling and use patina visible in the photo. No major apparent defects on the illustrated front.

Did you know? Bearer shares, like this one, were particularly widespread in France until the mid-20th century. They allowed the anonymous holder to collect dividends simply by presenting the document and detaching the coupons, without nominative registration. This system was gradually replaced by registered shares for reasons of transparency and fraud prevention.
