Description

This vintage document is an old share, more precisely a bearer participation certificate, issued by the Société Minière & Électrique des Landes. The typography, the ornamental style of the frame and the attached coupons confirm a printing typical of the 1920s. The certificate is dated December 31, 1929, which precisely places its historical context.

The visible side features a decorative blue-grey frame with geometric patterns, characteristic of financial documents from this period. The header clearly displays the company's name and the mention of the share capital. Several handwritten signatures and authentication stamps are clearly visible, reinforcing the authentic aspect of this financial security.

The lower part of the document consists of a series of numbered coupons (from 6 to 32 on the visible part), each bearing the company's name and the mention "part bénéficiaire" (participation certificate). These coupons are intended to be detached when dividends or other rights related to the share are paid. The circular "MINELA" stamps affixed to some coupons indicate partial use or successive administrative controls.

The paper shows a slight patina, typical of documents from this era, with a slight uniform yellowing. No chips, major tears or significant stains are visible on the presented side. The printing of texts and patterns remains clear and legible; the handwritten signatures add a touch of authenticity and history to the whole.

This type of certificate was used to formalize financial participation in a listed or unlisted company, here in the mining and electricity sector. Mentions such as "sans valeur nominale" (no par value) and "au porteur" (to bearer) are clearly indicated on the header, confirming the legal nature and free transmissibility of the security at the time.

Condition

Second-hand item, sold as is. The document shows good general preservation on the visible side, with some traces of use compatible with its age.

Did you know? Participation certificates were commonly issued by French companies at the turn of the 20th century, particularly in the mining sector, to reward founders and investors without granting them voting rights. The Société Minière & Électrique des Landes illustrates the industrial and energy development of the Landes region during this period, marked by the search for new deposits and the increasing electrification of the region.
