Description

This document is a 100-franc bearer share issued by the Société Minière et Industrielle de l’Étain, du Wolfram et de l’Arsenic (E.W.A.), clearly identifiable on the exposed side. The piece features an ornate frame typical of early 20th-century shares, predominantly in light brown and sepia tones. The center of the certificate displays the "E.W.A." acronym in large characters, surrounded by official mentions and printed handwritten signatures, reinforcing its visual authenticity.

At the bottom, the sheet is equipped with detachable coupons, each stamped with the blue "E.W.A." seal and numbered N° 36.069, corresponding to the main share number. These coupons, arranged in regular lines, illustrate the functioning of bearer shares of that era, allowing each holder to collect associated dividends or interest.

The certificate is topped with the inscription "Action de 100 francs au porteur" (100-franc bearer share), printed in white letters on a red background, and an ornamental watermarked cartouche. The visible inscriptions specify the full share capital and the company's incorporation date (1920), clearly placing this share in the 1920s. The typography and decorative motifs reflect the administrative and industrial aesthetics of the early century, with a border featuring stylized geometric and floral patterns.

The document is displayed open on a wooden piece of furniture, lying flat, allowing the entire front face, including coupons, to be observed. No reverse side or back details are visible in this image. The overall condition appears good, with no major tears or visible stains, apart from slight creases at the corners and a consistent patina, attesting to its age.

The printed signatures of the administrators, the mention "entièrement libérée" (fully paid up), as well as the stamps and share number, are clearly legible on the exposed side. The whole constitutes an authentic period financial document, prized for its retro graphics and the richness of its typographic details.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The share shows some minor creases and patina consistent with its age, with no major degradation visible on the displayed side.

Did you know? Bearer shares, very common in France until the mid-20th century, allowed holders to remain anonymous while collecting dividends thanks to attached coupons. The detachable coupon system was a common practice for paying interest or dividends before the widespread use of dematerialized securities.
