AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This vintage document is a bearer share issued by the Société Chantereine d’Applications Industrielles de Brevets, clearly visible in large red letters in the center of the title. The share has a value of 250 Francs, as indicated in bold type, and bears the individual number 000912. The paper features an ornamental frame in late 19th – early 20th century style, with floral and foliage motifs printed in brick red, typical of financial securities of the period.
On the right side of the document, there is a series of detachable coupons, each bearing the same share number, as well as the company's blue stamp. These coupons are printed within a frame matching the main title, also adorned with decorative motifs and administrative inscriptions. The ensemble is completed by several handwritten signatures at the bottom of the document, including those of the directors, and a round blue "SAB" stamp affixed to the left side.
The document is presented open, revealing the main face and all of the coupons. The paper, slightly yellowed by time, testifies to its age. No major defects are visible on this face: the text remains perfectly legible, the colors are clear, and the decorative details are well-preserved. The graphic style, typography, and face value in francs clearly place this security in the 1920s, consistent with the "vintage 1920s" keyword mention.
The background of the sheet is plain, without figurative illustration, prioritizing readability and the classic elegance of French shares from that era. Legal mentions, the issue date, and other administrative details remain partially visible in the lower part, but are not entirely legible in the photo.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. This old share shows good overall preservation on the visible side, with still vibrant colors, clear inscriptions, and a slight patina of age. No snags, stains, or tears are visible on the photographed recto.
Did you know? Bearer shares were commonly used in France in the early 20th century. They allowed their holder to exercise rights without their identity being known to the issuing company, which facilitated the transfer and anonymity of stock market transactions until their gradual prohibition at the end of the century.
