AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This item is an authentic bearer share issued by the Société Anonyme Franco-Bulgare de la Filature de la Soie et du Tissage des Soieries, headquartered in Lyon, 125 rue Vendôme. This financial security, dated June 29, 1921, is printed on slightly yellowed paper, typical of documents from that era. The document features a finely printed border with black geometric patterns on a cream background, framing the main text.
On the left page is the full name of the company, the designation "Bearer Share A of 500 Francs, fully paid," as well as the share number (003120), accompanied by printed handwritten signatures in facsimile. Two red circular stamps are affixed to the main face, reinforcing the administrative authenticity of the document. The printing is neat, in black ink with distinct typographical elements, typical of the 1920s.
The right page features a series of detachable coupons, numbered and marked with the same red stamp. These coupons, used to collect dividends, are still attached to the share, which is an asset for collectors of old financial documents. The inscriptions specify the nature of the coupons and their serial number (003120), consistent with the main share.
The whole is presented open, allowing both the main share and the sheet of coupons to be seen on a flat wooden surface. No frame, major folds, or tears are visible in the photographed area, suggesting good visual preservation of the exposed side. The item has an elegant aesthetic, characteristic of stock market documents from the first half of the 20th century.
The typography, layout, and border ornaments are characteristic of French administrative printing from the early 1920s, reinforcing its period attribution. The item is ideal for wall decoration, framing, or thematic archiving on the industrial and financial history of Lyon.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The visible side shows good preservation, with no tears or major stains apparent in the image. The coupons are still attached.
Did you know? Bearer shares were commonly used in France until the 1930s. They allowed their holders to anonymize title ownership, which led to their gradual abolition in favor of registered shares for financial transparency reasons.
