Description
This financial document is an antique bearer share issued by the Société du Domaine de Kébao, visible in the photograph. It is a one-hundred-franc share, identifiable by the central inscription "ACTION DE CENT FRANCS AU PORTEUR" (ONE HUNDRED FRANC BEARER SHARE). The document features blue printing with an ornamental frame typical of the 1920s, including geometric patterns and detailed friezes. The upper part displays the company name in capital letters, accompanied by legal mentions and a red stamp affixed in the center, on which "Sté Anné" and the date 23-7-24 are visible.
The lower part of the document includes a series of detachable coupons numbered from 1 to 28, all bearing the same share number (23774) and a red stamp similar to the one on the main document. Several coupons remain attached, some having been canceled or already detached, as evidenced by the presence of a cross on one of the slots. The inscriptions "STÉ DU DOMAINE DE KÉBAO" and "ACTION N°23774" are repeated on each coupon, confirming the authenticity and series of the title.
The paper shows a slight patina, characteristic of antique documents, but the structure remains flat and well-preserved. The blue print contrasts with the cream background of the paper, with no major discoloration visible. Printed or handwritten signatures at the bottom of the main title are also visible, reinforcing the official aspect of this vintage financial instrument.
The graphic style, the use of fonts, and the layout of the elements are typical of French administrative and financial documents from the early 20th century, the Art Deco period. The decorative elements of the frame, the typography, and the presentation of the coupons are consistent with a 1920s production, as also indicated by the dated mentions and the central stamp.
This antique title offers a faithful glimpse into interwar stock market and economic documents, used for the management and transmission of capital in colonial or land exploitation companies of the time. It is a representative example of French "bearer shares," sought after for their historical and decorative value.

Did you know? Bearer shares, like this one, were a common way of holding securities in the early 20th century, allowing the holder to remain anonymous and easily transfer the title by simply physically handing over the document. This system was gradually restricted to combat fraud and money laundering, but these documents remain valuable testimonies to financial history.
