Description

This document is a bearer share certificate issued by the Société Anonyme des Chantiers Navals de l'Ouest, clearly visible in the photograph. It is a vintage financial security, printed with an ornamental burgundy frame and geometric patterns typical of the 1920s. The upper part features the company name, the share value ("Ordinary Share of 100 F"), and the words "bearer, fully paid-up". Also visible are the issue number (006,588), the date from Paris (March 8, 1920), printed signatures, and several official stamps.

The lower part of the document displays a series of detachable coupons, all numbered and bearing the mention "Chantiers Navals de l'Ouest", with dated stamps. These coupons, typical of old financial securities, were used to collect dividends. The entire document is printed on paper with a slightly yellowed appearance, highlighting its age and visual authenticity.

The graphic style, typography, and general presentation are characteristic of administrative and financial documents from the early 20th century in France. The delicacy of the ornamentation is notable, with decorative friezes around the entire border, as well as great clarity in the arrangement of the main information.

The document shows a visual condition consistent with a vintage archival object: the surface shows some creases and slight undulations, but no major tears or missing parts are visible on the exposed face. The colors remain well contrasted, with a cream background and burgundy-brown frames.

The main inscriptions are perfectly legible: "Société Anonyme des Chantiers Navals de l'Ouest", "Ordinary Share of 100 F", the issue number, the date, the signatures, and the series of lower coupons. No details regarding the verso or any annotations on the back are visible in the provided image.

Condition

Used document, sold as-is in original condition. Some signs of wear and handling are visible (creases, undulations), but the overall presentation remains good for a document of this era.

Did you know? Bearer shares were commonly used in the early 20th century to facilitate transfer and anonymity for holders. Chantiers Navals de l'Ouest played a key role in French shipbuilding during the interwar period, participating in the construction of numerous ocean liners and merchant ships.
