Description

Old bearer share certificate issued by Union Charbonnière Continentale, also known as "Charbunion". This vintage financial document, dated 1929, features a typical 1920s print with a wide ornamental pastel blue border and refined geometric framing. The center of the certificate reads "Action de 100 Francs au porteur" (Bearer Share of 100 Francs), accompanied by the company logo in red on the left side. The printing is in two tones, blue and red, with decorative motifs characteristic of French administrative documents from the early 20th century.

The document is divided into two distinct parts: the upper part contains the main information, including the full company name, the registered office in Paris, the nominal value (100 francs), the share number (121071), as well as original handwritten signatures. The lower part offers a series of detachable coupons, numbered and stamped with the company's red seal, used for the payment of dividends or interest. These coupons, still attached, enhance the authenticity and visual interest of this old security.

The typeface, ornaments, and graphic style fully evoke the administrative and financial aesthetics of the 1920s. The overall condition of the paper shows careful preservation, with no visible tears or significant discoloration on the exposed side. Some slight handling marks can be observed, testifying to the age and initial administrative use of the document.

The main inscriptions are perfectly legible, notably "Union Charbonnière Continentale," "Charbunion," "Action de 100 Francs au porteur," as well as the legal notices and signatures. The document is presented flat, allowing for appreciation of all its graphic details and confirming the presence of all coupons visible in the image.

This type of old security, also called "scripophily," is a sought-after paper collectible for its retro graphics, historical interest, and the finesse of its motifs. The shades of blue, the red stamp, and the printing quality make it a beautiful example of a vintage French stock market document.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The condition is generally very good for a document of this era, with slight visible signs of use.

Did you know? Bearer shares like this one were common in France until the mid-20th century. They allowed their holder to remain anonymous, as ownership was simply transferred by physical delivery of the certificate. The "Charbunion" company played a key role in the coal distribution sector in France before World War II.
