Description

This document, visible in the photo, is an old financial security, specifically a bearer share issued by the Compagnie Agricole d’Annam. The main side features a large vignette framed by red and white geometric patterns, typical of early 20th-century securities. The heading "Compagnie Agricole d’Annam" appears in red letters, accompanied by the mention "Société Anonyme" and a capital of 30,000,000 francs. The issue number (No. 036.005) is clearly distinguishable, as is the mention "Part Bénéficiaire au Porteur" (Bearer Beneficiary Share) written prominently in the center of the document.

The background of the security displays a complex security pattern, with an ornamental border and pastel blue-green paper. Several original handwritten signatures are visible in the bottom left and right, attesting to the document's authenticity at the time of its issue. An embossed seal and a circular blue stamp complete the ensemble, reinforcing the official and historical aspect of the paper.

The lower part of the document features a series of detachable coupons, each numbered and stamped, which were used to collect dividends or interest associated with the share. Each coupon is printed in red on a light blue background, and blue stamps are clearly affixed to several of them. The inscriptions on the coupons repeat the company's name, the security number, and the mention "au porteur" (to the bearer).

The date "Paris, January 20, 1927" is perfectly legible, allowing the precise dating of the document's issuance. No major defects are visible on the front: the paper's structure appears intact, with a slight antique patina and some handling marks consistent with its age. The colors remain vibrant and the patterns well-defined.

This type of old financial security, known as a "bearer share," is representative of the stock market documents used in the first half of the 20th century. Its presentation, with attached coupons and elaborate graphics, makes it a decorative item appreciated for its retro aesthetic and historical interest.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The overall visible condition is good for its age, with well-preserved colors and clear inscriptions. Some folds or signs of use may be present, with no visible tears on the displayed front side.

Did you know? The Compagnie Agricole d’Annam was a company active during the French colonial period in Indochina, specializing in agricultural exploitation and plantation management. Bearer shares allowed their holders to remain anonymous and were commonly used until the end of the 20th century before being progressively replaced by registered shares for traceability reasons.
