Description

Bearer share certificate issued by the Société des Cultures de Diakandapé, visible on the front of the document. The main title, printed in large characters, is surrounded by an ornamental blue frame with geometric patterns. The center of the certificate features a pale pink background, typical of French shares from the early 20th century, with clear printing and black and dark blue inscriptions.

The document displays "Société Anonyme" at the top, followed by the full name of the company and its share capital, here 15,000,000 francs. The registered office is indicated as Kayes French Sudan, placing the item in the colonial context of French West Africa (A.O.F.).

In the center, the inscription "Action de Cent Francs au Porteur" (Bearer Share of One Hundred Francs) is clearly legible, specifying the face value and the form of the title. The issue number "N° 050,852" is clearly printed, accompanied by handwritten signatures. The company seal is also visible, a red monogram "CD" integrated into a circle, as well as a medallion representing "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité" with the mention A.O.F.

The lower part of the document contains a series of detachable coupons, numbered from 19 to 33, all in the name of the same company. Each coupon bears the share number 050,852 and is printed in blue and red on a white background, with the mention "Société des Cultures de Diakandapé" and the coupon's wording. The coupons are intact on the sheet, which is rare for this type of document.

The paper has a matte texture, with no apparent gloss. Some signs of wear and a slight fold are visible on the edges, as well as a small perforation on the main part, typical of old document storage. The printing remains clear and the colors are well preserved.

Condition

Used item sold as is. Light signs of wear, small perforation, and handling marks visible in the image, without major alteration of the visual or main inscriptions.

Did you know? Bearer shares were commonly used in France and its colonies in the early 20th century. They allowed anyone physically holding the document to assert their rights with the issuing company, hence the importance of keeping coupons to collect dividends.
