Description

This document is a bearer share issued by the French public limited company Paris-Maroc, visible on the front. The certificate features elaborate graphics with a gray geometric pattern frame and a cream background adorned with ornamental motifs typical of the early 20th century. The main inscriptions, in black and dark blue lettering, indicate a value of 100 francs, with the mention "Action de 100 Francs au porteur" (Bearer Share of 100 Francs) prominently displayed. The title "Société Anonyme Française Paris-Maroc" is centered, topped with a printed stamp and surrounded by complex ornamentation evoking the Art Deco period of the 1920s.

The share bears the number 274214, dated January 10, 1923, making it an authentic financial document from the interwar period. We can see the handwritten signature of Maxime Khat, as well as a distinctive red stamp of the issuing company. The right part of the document includes a series of detachable coupons, numbered 15 to 23, each stamped with a red seal and bearing the company's name. These coupons are printed on the same paper as the main certificate, with visible security patterns.

The paper texture shows a slightly yellowed appearance and signs of age, including a top-left corner with a moisture stain and slight rippling, which is typical of period certificates stored unframed. The edges are irregularly wavy, with no major tearing visible on the presented side. The printing shows good clarity for the document's age, with characters still clearly legible and a marked contrast between the different ink areas.

This type of old certificate, also known as a "collector's share" or "old financial certificate," is sought after for its aesthetic and heritage interest. The ornamentation, writing style, and presence of original coupons give this example remarkable authenticity, representative of French financial issues of the 1920s. No reverse or back elements are visible in the photograph.

The visible information confirms that it is indeed a period document, dated and signed, with its attached coupons. The whole evokes the world of old certificates, vintage shares, historical securities, and decorative financial documents.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The share shows visible signs of wear: moisture stain, paper undulations, irregular edges, and age-related patina. Inscriptions and motifs remain clearly legible on the visible side. See photo for precise assessment of condition.

Did you know? Bearer shares were commonly issued in early 20th century France. They allowed their holder to exercise financial rights without being nominally registered with the company, which facilitated their transfer. Société Paris-Maroc was active in the context of economic expansion between France and Morocco during the interwar period.
