Description

An old financial document, this is a bearer share issued by the Société Générale Foncière, headquartered in Paris. This certificate bears the mention "Action de cent francs au porteur entièrement libérée" (Share of one hundred francs to bearer fully paid), with the number 099,580. The clearly legible date indicates an issue on May 22, 1936. The whole adopts a layout typical of printed shares from the first half of the 20th century, with an ornamental red frame with floral and geometric patterns on a cream background.

The upper part presents the company name in large red letters, accompanied by two circular green "SGF" stamps and printed handwritten signatures. Also visible are the inscription "Société Anonyme au capital de 20.000.000 de francs" (Limited company with a capital of 20,000,000 francs) and several legal notices in small print. The details are finely printed, giving the whole a decorative appearance characteristic of administrative documents of the era.

Below, a series of detachable coupons occupies the lower half of the document, numbered from 27 to 55, all in the name of the same company and bearing the same share number. Each coupon is surrounded by a red frame and bears the SGF stamp applied in green ink. The coupons are aligned in regular columns, emphasizing the retro graphic style and the utilitarian function of the document at the time.

The general appearance shows signs of age: slight fold marks visible on the upper part, slightly curled top edge, but the paper remains well preserved, with no apparent tears on the visible side. The red and cream colors have remained vibrant, testifying to careful preservation and enhancing the visual authenticity of this historical piece.

This type of bearer certificate was common for real estate or financial companies in early 20th century France. All the visible inscriptions, stamps, and signatures attest to the administrative authenticity of the document and its original use as a genuine negotiable share.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Shows signs of handling and folding visible in the photo, but no major apparent defects on the side shown.

Did you know? Bearer shares were physical securities allowing their holder to exercise shareholder rights without being formally registered. In France, this type of document was gradually abandoned from the end of the 20th century, notably to strengthen the traceability of financial transactions.
