Description

Former financial certificate from Société Générale Foncière, visible in the photo, dated to the 1920s based on typographic clues and printing style. It is a bearer share for 100 francs, fully paid, with a wide blue-gray ornamental border and a regularly patterned frame. The document features clear central printing, the company name in large font, legal mentions, capital, and the address of the registered office in Paris (14, Rue de Penthièvre, Paris 8e).

On the right side of the certificate, a series of detachable coupons remain attached, each bearing the mention "Action N° 115,931," with distinctive red stamps and visible numbering. The document also displays the printed signature of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, a round red stamp "Société Générale Foncière S.A.," and several regulatory perforations visible on the front.

The paper of this certificate shows a slight antique patina, characteristic of administrative documents from the 1920s. The printing, black ink on off-white background, is enhanced by the decorative border motif. The whole evokes the graphic style and administrative rigor of the era. The side coupons, typical of bearer shares, reflect the stock market operations of the time.

The main text, perfectly legible in the photo, indicates the share number (115,931), the face value (100 francs), the mention "fully paid," as well as the official signatures. The stamps and perforations are original, attesting to the authenticity of the certificate.

This vintage document is a typical example of French financial certificates from the early 20th century, both a collector's item and a remnant of economic heritage. It is presented open, displaying both the main page and the attached coupons, with no visible modifications or modern additions.

Did you know? Bearer certificates like this one were commonly used in France until the mid-20th century to facilitate the trading and transfer of shares without nominative registration. Société Générale Foncière was one of many real estate companies listed in Paris, illustrating the dynamism of the land sector during the interwar period.
