Description

Fossil ammonite specimen with a very clear spiral structure, typical of Jurassic ammonites. The fossilized shell, visible in a front view, shows a pronounced relief with fine radial ribs. The surface reveals a white to cream hue, punctuated by beige nuances and slight natural mineral traces, characteristic of fossilization.

The fossil is displayed on a decorative gold stand with a baroque appearance, but only the ammonite is included in the listing. The object has a flattened discoidal shape, with a complete coiling of the test and a clearly visible central umbilicus. The appearance of the shell reveals the mineral texture and fine details resulting from the fossilization process.

The visible side shows the entire spiral turn, without major breaks around the edge, although small natural surface irregularities are discernible. The radial striations are regular throughout the circumference. No polishing is apparent: the patina is matte, with a slight graininess typical of ammonites preserved in their raw or minimally worked state.

This specimen is a representative example of the ammonite genus, frequently sought after for interior decoration, natural history study, or paleontological education. Its natural appearance and light color make it an easily displayable decorative piece.

The ammonite is well-centered in the photo and benefits from natural light that highlights the spiral structure and relief. No major visual defects are to be reported on the exposed side, apart from the usual signs of fossilization and mineral deposition.

Did you know? Ammonites are extinct marine mollusks that lived from the Devonian to the Cretaceous periods. Their spiral shell served as a float, and their fossilization is typical of Jurassic sediments, a period during which these animals were particularly abundant in shallow seas.
