Description

This document is an original copy of the professional magazine "Le Journal des Brodeuses" (The Embroiderers' Journal), dated 1953 and published in Lyon, 22 rue d'Algérie. The cover features a particularly elaborate floral frame, typical of the graphic aesthetic of the 1950s, with a neat and legible layout. The main title is highlighted by an elegant and ornate typography, underscored by the mention "Professional embroidery journal."

The upper part of the page highlights subscription information, the name of the founder F. Laurent, and the management provided by Madame J. Laurent. Also noted are the medal and diploma obtained at the Lyon Exhibition in 1913, mentioned in the lower left cartouche. The mention "Published provisionally on the 1st of each month" indicates the publication's frequency.

The central illustration on the page offers embroidery patterns to create, here a bib pattern adorned with flowers and geometric motifs, accompanied by a design for a child's romper. The table of contents, visible on the left, details the various models and embroidery alphabets offered in this issue (bibs, table runners, sheets, towels, monograms, etc.).

The paper has a patinated ivory tint, with some visible signs of age on the surface, including slight brown stains on the lower part. The visible edges show slight warping and typical wear and tear for a periodical of this era. The printing is in black on a light background, with sharp contrast and fine detail in the tracing of the motifs.

The displayed page highlights the richness of the proposed motifs, illustrating the historical and decorative interest of this journal for lovers of antique embroidery and vintage textile documents. The graphic composition, the ornate header, and the quality of the technical drawings bear witness to the editorial expertise of the time.
