Description

This old issue of the illustrated newspaper "Lisette" is dated Sunday, November 12, 1933, as indicated at the top right of the cover. It is a weekly magazine for young girls, titled "Journal des fillettes" (Girls' Newspaper), published in Paris. The front page features a large color illustration depicting two female characters in medieval attire, observing a castle and a fire in the distance from a rampart. This scene introduces the story "La triste vie de damoiselle Bérangère" (The sad life of noblewoman Bérangère), mentioned at the bottom of the page.

The cover stands out with its "Lisette" header in white cursive letters on a blue background, accompanied by two stylized roses. The mention "16 Pages" appears in a yellow box on the left, while the original price, "25 centimes," is clearly visible on the right. The issue number (No. 46, thirteenth year, 654th delivery) is specified at the top left, highlighting the publication's age. The graphic composition and typography reflect the editorial style of the first half of the 20th century.

The paper shows a patina characteristic of the era, with signs of browning, stains, and wear visible on the edges, especially in the corners. The spine is marked by stapled binding, typical of periodicals from this period. The colors of the cover illustration have maintained good legibility despite the passage of time, with pastel shades (green, pink, red, beige) and still sharp details.

The magazine contains 16 pages, as indicated on the cover, but only the front cover and the edge are visible in the photo. The title, date, numbering, and opening scene are clearly legible. This newspaper is an authentic witness to French youth press of the 1930s, intended for a female readership.
