Description

This lot features an old issue of the illustrated newspaper "Lisette", identified as number 49 of the thirteenth year, dated Sunday, December 3, 1933. This weekly periodical, intended for young girls, comes in the form of a 16-page booklet, as mentioned on the front cover. The title "Lisette" is highlighted in a large blue cartouche adorned with stylized roses, typical of the editorial aesthetic of the era.

The full-color cover features an illustration signed "Levesque" depicting an elegant scene: a man in a suit and a young girl in a dress and sailor top stand on a terrace overlooking the sea, next to a striped lounge chair and a large decorative vase. The title of the main story, "La Maison sans Portes (Suite)" (The House Without Doors (Continued)), appears at the bottom of the page. The printing uses a palette of pastel tones characteristic of comics and children's illustrations from the early 1930s.

At the top right, the precise date "Dimanche 3 décembre 1933" (Sunday, December 3, 1933) is clearly legible, as is the period price "25 centimes" and the mention "Journal des fillettes" (Girls' Newspaper). The editorial office address, 1 rue Gazan, Paris (XIVe), also appears. The newspaper shows visible signs of wear on the spine and edges, as well as some foxing and age marks, typical of old paper.

The binding is stapled (booklet type), with staples not visible on this side. The paper surface has a uniform patina, testifying to its age. The corners are slightly dog-eared and the cover shows some brown spots, without affecting the readability of the illustration or the main texts.

This issue of "Lisette" is an authentic testament to French youth press from the interwar period, combining illustrated stories, comics, and serialized novels for girls. The layout, lettering, and chromatic palette confirm the original dating.
