Description

This old issue of the "Lisette" newspaper, dated Sunday, October 15, 1933, is an illustrated magazine for young girls, typical of early 20th-century French youth press. The cover features a colored drawing, characteristic of the Art Deco aesthetic of the 1930s, depicting three female figures in a refined interior, wearing long, elegant outfits. At the top, the title "Lisette" is highlighted in a blue cartouche adorned with stylized red roses, accompanied by the mention "16 Pages" and the price of "25 Centimes".

The cover page includes several specific inscriptions: "N° 42. — Treizième année (640e livraison)" (No. 42. — Thirteenth year (640th issue)) and the address of the offices in Paris. The subtitle "Journal des fillettes" (Girls' Newspaper) is clearly legible, confirming the editorial target of this periodical. The top banner also indicates its weekly publication and numbering, elements sought after by paper archive enthusiasts.

The front-page illustration is signed "PCAM" and titled "Le mieux possible" (As best as possible) (see story page 16), showing a clear graphic style with flat colors typical of the printing of the era. The dominant hues are green, red, beige, and black, with a visible screen effect on the paper surface, reinforcing the magazine's vintage charm.

The edge of the newspaper shows wear and a brown patina, attesting to the age of the copy. The cover shows signs of handling, oxidation marks, and dulled corners, all common signs on a periodical from this era.

This "Lisette" magazine is an authentic testament to the illustrated youth press of the 1930s, with a layout and iconography representative of its time. It is a prized item for those interested in the history of children's publishing, female iconography, or 1930s Art Deco fashion.
