Description

This issue of the "Lisette" magazine, shown in the photo, is an illustrated periodical for young girls, dating from Sunday, October 8, 1933 (No. 41, thirteenth year). The cover features a colored scene, typical of interwar youth publications, in a colorized engraving style. The illustration shows four characters in period costume, including a man in a green coat, a woman in a long black dress, a young girl, and an elderly woman, in front of a rural house. The title of the cover story, "Les Inconnus" (The Unknowns), is written at the bottom of the page, with the mention "See the story (pages 8 and 9)".

The upper part displays the "Lisette" logo in white cursive letters on a blue background, framed by stylized roses. The mentions "16 pages" and "Price: 25 centimes" are clearly visible in yellow cartridges. Also specified are: "Published: Weekly. Girls' Newspaper." as well as the office address, 7 rue Cadet, Paris (IXe). The paper has an ivory tint, with a slight patina and some foxing visible on the edges, testifying to its age.

The format is that of a soft magazine, typical of youth newspapers from the early 20th century. The binding appears to be stapled (not visible on this side), and the document, although used, retains good readability of the texts and images on the cover. No missing parts or tears are observable on the exposed side, but small signs of wear and aging spots appear on the right border and the lower left corner.

The typography and general aesthetic are characteristic of illustrated French publications of the 1930s, with a neat layout, colored frames, and a narrative cover illustration. The illustrator's name, "E. Muterseau", is visible at the bottom left below the main image.

This old periodical is a piece of youth press, also called an "illustrated children's magazine" or "vintage girls' magazine", sought after for its iconography and period stories.
