Description

This old issue of the "Lisette" newspaper is dated Sunday, March 4, 1934, as indicated at the top right of the cover. It is an illustrated weekly periodical, aimed at young girls, titled "Journal des fillettes" (Girls' Journal). The newspaper features a cover with paper yellowed by time, typical of early 20th-century publications, and contains 16 pages as indicated at the top left.

The front page is dominated by a polychrome illustration signed "Levesque" at the bottom left, depicting three female characters in traditional attire, conversing in front of a thatched-roof house, with chickens in the foreground. The title of this illustration, "La vieille au secret" (The old woman with a secret), is clearly printed at the bottom of the page. The main colors are blue, red, ochre, and green, giving the scene a rustic and retro character.

The "Lisette" logo stands out in blue on a yellow background, surrounded by stylized floral ornaments, which gives the publication a strong and recognizable visual identity. The publication information mentions a price of 25 centimes and the office address in Paris (1, rue Gazan, Paris XIVe). The overall layout is typical of children's newspapers from the 1930s, with period graphic elements and typography.

The paper shows an even patina, with irregular edges and visible signs of wear, particularly folds, small tears, and dog-eared corners, especially on the upper right edge. These signs confirm the age of the item and indicate prolonged storage.

The cover illustration evokes rural life and the transmission of knowledge or secrets between generations, a common theme in illustrated children's press of the era. This type of newspaper was designed to offer stories, comic strips, and advice adapted to young female readers.
