Description

This old issue of the illustrated newspaper "Lisette" is dated Sunday, June 3, 1934, as indicated at the top right of the cover. It is issue number 22 of the fourteenth year (673rd delivery). This periodical, intended for young girls, is an emblematic example of French youth press from the early 20th century. The paper cover features a colorful drawing depicting several characters in an indoor scene, accompanied by the story title "Poucette et ses sœurs (Suite.)."

The title "Lisette" appears in a blue oval cartouche with golden lettering, adorned with two stylized red roses at the ends. The mention "16 Pages" and the price "25 Centimes" are clearly visible in yellow frames. Below the title, the phrase "Journal des fillettes" specifies the magazine's editorial target. The office address, "1, rue Gazan, Paris (XIVe)," is also indicated.

The paper has a beige tint typical of old newspaper, with a slight patina visible on the edges and a small brown stain at the bottom right. The polychrome printing on the cover, true to the aesthetic of the 1930s, is characterized by bold colors (blue, red, yellow, black) and a black ink drawing outlining the characters' contours. The corners are slightly rounded, with a small fold marked at the top left.

The issue has 16 pages, as specified on the cover, and offers illustrated content, likely composed of stories, comic strips, and sections dedicated to young female readers. The inscriptions and graphics are typical of the late Art Deco style, with a structured layout and floral decorative elements.

At the bottom of the cover, the title of the main story "Poucette et ses sœurs" is printed in black letters, with the mention "Voir l’histoire pages 8 et 9" (See story on pages 8 and 9). The binding visible on the left is stapled, standard for youth press of this period.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The whole piece shows a homogeneous patina, traces of wear, and a small stain on the lower right part of the cover. The paper is yellowed, consistent with the age of the copy. Corners and creases visible at the top left. As the interior is not visible, only the cover is described.
