Description

This old issue of the illustrated newspaper "Lisette" is dated Sunday, March 25, 1934, visible at the top right of the cover. This is issue 12 of the fourteenth year (indication: 663rd delivery). The cover features a central title "Lisette" on a blue background, accompanied by two stylized roses and the text "Journal des fillettes" (Girls' Newspaper). The whole displays a graphic style marked by the codes of early 20th-century youth press.

The cover highlights a colorful illustration depicting a narrative scene: a man dressed in black trousers and a yellow and black striped vest is being pulled by a young woman in a black skirt and red blouse, in a garden or countryside setting, in front of a stone wall and bushes. This illustration accompanies the title of the main story: "Poucette et ses sœurs (Suite)" (Poucette and her sisters (Continued)) inscribed at the bottom of the page.

The newspaper announces "16 pages" on the cover, with a sale price of "25 centimes". The mention "Parait : Chaque Semaine" (Appears: Every Week) specifies the periodicity, as well as the address of the offices in Paris (4, rue Gazan, Paris XIVe). The layout and typography, as well as the illustration style, are typical of French youth press from the 1930s.

The paper shows a homogeneous patina, with an ivory to beige tint, and visible signs of wear on the edges, including slight dog-earing at the top left. The colors of the illustration remain vibrant for the period, although the paper shows its age through slight oxidation and some discreet marks, with no apparent tears on the visible side. No handwritten annotations are observed on this side.

The cover only shows the first page, with no indication of the interior condition or content on the back. The whole evokes a vintage youth magazine, sought after for its illustrations, its stories, and its heritage interest related to French popular culture of the interwar period.
