Description

This old issue of the illustrated newspaper "Lisette" is dated Sunday, May 19, 1935. It is the 723rd delivery (No. 20, fifteenth year) of this weekly periodical intended for young girls, particularly popular in the first half of the 20th century. The cover features a color drawing signed "J. Jean," with two characters in front of a door on which there is a red handwritten inscription. The headline is "Le Collier de Jade (Suite)," referring to a serialized story inside (pages 8 and 9 mentioned at the bottom of the cover).

The cover stands out with its "Lisette" logo in white cursive letters on a blue background, adorned with two stylized roses. The mentions "16 Pages" and "Price: 25 centimes" are clearly visible in yellow inserts. The address of the editorial office, 4 rue Gazan, Paris (XIVe), is printed under the title banner.

The visual aspect of this copy evokes ivory paper yellowed by time, with a homogeneous patina, some marks and stains of use, as well as traces of handling on the edges and corners, typical of a newspaper of the era. The graphics, typical of the 1930s, reflect the illustrated style and youthful spirit of children's feminine press of that period. The format is that of a flexible, stapled magazine, with no visible spine in this image.

The cover scene highlights a female/male duo in period clothing, illustrating the serialized narrative characteristic of this type of publication. The handwritten inscription visible on the door ("Que la pauvre Myrto et Annette suite du dernier courrier quittant la France le 21 Août" - That poor Myrto and Annette, following the last mail leaving France on August 21st) adds character to this specific edition.

The main colors observed are blue for the logo, ochre and beige for the characters, with touches of green, yellow, and red in the decorative elements. The whole is typical of pre-war illustrated children's press.
