Description

This document, visible in the photo, is an old bearer share issued by the Société Anonyme des Entreprises A. Monod. It is a 5,000 Franc share, bearing the number 099556. The main face features an ornamental frame typical of early 20th-century financial documents, with black and gray printing on light-colored paper. The main title, "ENTREPRISES A. MONOD," is topped with the mention "Société Anonyme" and accompanied by detailed information about the company's formation and registered office, located at 84, rue de Miromesnil, Paris 8e.

The left part of the document contains clear and legible inscriptions, notably the mention "Action de 5 000 Francs au porteur" (5,000 Franc bearer share), a red stamp, and a handwritten signature of an administrator, adding to the authenticity and decorative value of this certificate. The frame features a repetitive geometric pattern, characteristic of French administrative aesthetics of the 1920s.

The right part of the photo shows a sheet of attached coupons, numbered and marked with a circular red stamp bearing the mention "ENTREPRISES A. MONOD." These coupons, originally used to collect interest or dividends, are well-aligned and all bear the same share number as the main certificate. The coupons are printed in black, with mentions such as "VINGT-SIXIÈME COUPON" (TWENTY-SIXTH COUPON), and some show slight signs of handling or creasing.

The entire document is laid flat on a wooden chair, in a bright environment, which highlights the paper's texture and the printing contrasts. No major defects are visible on the displayed side, apart from some natural undulations of the paper due to age.

This type of bearer share, also called an antique share or registered share, is prized for decoration or historical documentation, particularly due to the quality of its printed patterns, the presence of coupons, and the period stamp. The typography and ornamentation are typical of the 1920s, which enhances the vintage and retro aspect of this financial document.

Condition

Used item and sold as is. The visible side has a nice overall appearance, with well-preserved inscriptions and patterns. Some folds and undulations are visible on the paper, with no apparent tears on the shown part.

Did you know? Bearer shares were commonly used in France until the mid-20th century. They allowed their holder to exercise the rights attached to the share without any name being inscribed, which facilitated their circulation and anonymity. Since 1982, the issuance of new bearer shares has no longer been authorized in France, which gives these documents a particular heritage and historical value.
