Description

Old cylindrical advertising box with a screw-on lid, used for storing medicinal capsules. The visible side features a vintage label, predominantly beige, adorned with an orange graphic frieze on the upper part. The main inscription, in black and red typography, highlights "PANCRÉPATINE Laleuf," a historic pharmaceutical preparation intended for the treatment of diabetes mellitus and its complications, as mentioned on the label. The mention "Opothérapie Associée" (Associated Organotherapy) is also found at the top of the container, along with a detailed description of the product, including the presence of gelatinized capsules, the number of capsules (box of 100 capsules), and the laboratory's address in Paris ("Laboratoires Laleuf, 25 rue Nicolo Paris").

The tube consists of a body with a matte surface, likely metal (visible metallic appearance), with a lid featuring concentric grooves. The label, though patinated and showing signs of wear, remains generally legible. The inscriptions are complemented by practical information on dosage and composition, as well as small print details on the lower part of the label. The overall look reflects the style of pharmaceutical packaging from the early to mid-20th century, with an aesthetic typical of old pharmacies.

The box has a tube shape with a circular cross-section, with a flat base and a screw-on lid. No other decorative elements are visible on the displayed side, apart from the label's graphics and the natural patina of time. The slightly yellowed appearance, wear marks, and some visible traces of oxidation on the metal reinforce the object's vintage authenticity.

The "Laleuf" brand and the product's pharmaceutical function ("Pancrépatine") are prominently displayed on the front. The rest of the text, though partially faded, refers to organotherapy (therapy based on animal organ extracts) and historical medical uses. The box thus evokes the world of old Parisian pharmacies and laboratories.

The object, with its presentation and detailed label, is an authentic testament to past medical advertising and pharmaceutical practice, ideal for a display cabinet or to enrich a themed decor such as an apothecary, retro pharmacy, or cabinet of curiosities.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Visible wear on the label (discoloration, stains, some partially erased areas), patina, and traces of oxidation on the metal surface. The structural integrity of the tube appears preserved on the visible side.

Did you know? Pancrépatine Laleuf was a French pharmaceutical preparation based on pancreatic and liver extracts, used at the time to treat diabetes before the advent of insulin. This type of medication falls under organotherapy, a practice developed in the late 19th century, which involved administering organ extracts to compensate for hormonal deficiencies.
