Description

This lot features an antique sliding bolt door lock, typical of the hardware used on interior doors or traditional gates. The item consists of a rectangular main plate with molded ends, drilled with four clearly visible fixing holes, allowing it to be securely anchored to a wooden or metal support. The lock is equipped with a large sliding bolt operated by a raised circular knob, characteristic of manual systems of the era, with no apparent key mechanism on the visible side.

The surface finish shows a dark patina, attesting to the age of the piece and its exposure to use and time. The edges of the bolt and plate show slight softening due to wear, with no major chips. The shape of the central knob, domed and ringed, is reminiscent of artisanal or semi-industrial productions from the early to mid-20th century, often used in rural buildings or old houses.

The system is entirely mechanical and visible on the front: the rectangular bolt slides laterally in a guide, held by the main support. No superfluous decoration appears, reinforcing the utilitarian and rustic character of this hardware. The surface shows traces of old oxidation and a typical black-brown coloration of aged metal, without, however, masking the structure or detracting from its apparent solidity.

The six fixing holes (four on the main plate and two on the movable part) are clean, suitable for countersunk screws. The edges of the plate are cut in a slight bracket shape, an aesthetic detail that distinguishes this model from more recent or purely industrial locks. The whole is photographed against a light background, clearly revealing the shape and relief.

This type of sliding lock or bolt was often used to secure barn doors, gates, or interior doors of old houses. The simplicity of the mechanism and the robustness of the manufacturing make it a sought-after piece for restoration or decoration of authentic style interiors.
