AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Former official certificate from the Academic Inspectorate of Bouches-du-Rhône, issued by the Ministry of National Education in 1959. The document presented is a period administrative sheet, with a printed "République Française" and "Ministère de l'Éducation Nationale" letterhead, featuring a typical 1950s layout. The cream-colored sheet, slightly patinated by time, shows clearly visible horizontal and vertical folds, indicating prolonged storage in a folded format.
The text, primarily typewritten, is supplemented by several handwritten annotations in blue ink, including the beneficiary's name ("JULLIEN Roger"), date of birth ("8-2-1942"), city ("Marseille"), session ("1959"), as well as the inspector's signature and the issue date ("September 4, 1959"). An official round stamp "ENSEIGNEMENT TECHNIQUE - INSPECTION ACADEMIQUE B.D.RH." is affixed at the bottom right, featuring a stylized ship in the center.
The document certifies that the candidate successfully passed the examinations for the Certificat d'Aptitude Professionnelle (CAP - Certificate of Professional Aptitude) during the 1959 session. The typography, presentation, and format are characteristic of French administrative documents from the second half of the 20th century. No reverse side or dorsal annotations are visible in the photo.
The sheet shows some signs of handling: slightly dog-eared corners, pronounced folds, and very slight traces of creasing, with no tears or apparent stains on the exposed side. The typewritten and handwritten ink remains clearly legible, as does the official stamp.
Condition
Used document, sold as is. Marked folds, signs of use, and uniform patina, condition consistent with an authentic administrative document from 1959.
Did you know? French academic certificates from the 1950s were often typewritten on official letterhead, then validated by a handwritten signature and an administrative stamp. The Certificat d'Aptitude Professionnelle (CAP), created in 1911, remains a key vocational training diploma in France.
