Vintage Shell F1 sticker yellow black retro decor garage ad
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Old advertising sticker featuring a stylized Formula 1 car, in yellow and black, with a large, clearly visible Shell logo on a red background, positioned at the rear of the vehicle. The graphic design, very clean and characteristic of the second half of the 20th century, highlights the silhouette of a single-seater, without fine mechanical details but with an immediately recognizable and impactful rendering.
The visible side features a clear print, with bold colors: bright yellow for the main bodywork, matte black for the wheels and technical elements, and a brilliant red for the logo insert. The Shell logo, in yellow on a red background, is perfectly legible. The outline of the sticker is white, cut to the shape of the vehicle, which accentuates the visual effect and facilitates integration onto a decorative surface.
The overall condition shows some signs of use visible from certain angles, notably micro-scratches or marks related to age, but the sticker retains a nice shine and excellent legibility of the patterns. No apparent missing parts on the visible section, nor major discoloration to report. The whole evokes a retro style, typical of garage or workshop decorative items from the 70s and 80s, a period during which Shell multiplied its visibility campaigns around Formula 1.
This type of sticker was often used for decorating shop windows, glass panes, workshop cabinets, or lockers, particularly in automotive-related environments or at Shell partner service stations. The shiny appearance and neat cut make it an ideal decorative item for a vintage or racing ambiance, true to the aesthetics of Shell advertisements from that era.
The side visible in the photo is flat, with no perceptible embossing or relief. The cut precisely follows the outer contours of the vehicle and the logo, without excess material around, which indicates careful manufacturing. The minimalist graphics, the yellow-black-red combination, and the explicit reference to car racing reinforce the authenticity of the object as a period advertising medium.

Did you know? The Shell logo, with its stylized shell, has been in use since 1904 and has undergone several evolutions. In the 1970s-80s, the Shell brand was particularly active in Formula 1 sponsorship, especially with major racing teams, which explains the strong presence of this type of iconography in automotive advertising of that era.
