Visual Description

This lot features a copy of the comic book titled AKIM No. 457, identifiable by its illustrated cover and clear markings. The cover depicts a dynamic underwater scene: a blond male character, wearing red shorts and a harness, moves among ancient ruins, colorful fish, and a shark, all against an aquatic backdrop. The illustration, typical of popular French comic books, showcases vibrant colors (blue, red, yellow, black) on paper with a slightly yellowed appearance, characteristic of older editions. At the top of the cover, the inscription "MON JOURNAL" is visible on a pink background, the prominent title "AKIM" in red, the mention "BIMENSUEL – 132 PAGES – 2,80 F.", and the number "457" in a white circle. At the bottom of the cover, the price for Canada is also shown: "CANADA: 65 Cents".

The cover design, with its large lettering and contrasting colors, as well as the drawing style, clearly evokes a publication from the 1970s-1980s. The comic book appears to be in pocket format, typical of Mon Journal editions, with visible stapled binding on the spine and slight wear on the corners.

The visual condition shows some signs of use: blunted corners, small creases, and handling marks, but the illustration remains very legible and well-preserved. No missing parts are visible on the front face, and the whole retains a beautiful period patina.

Did you know? The AKIM series was created in 1950 by Roberto Renzi and Augusto Pedrazza for the Italian publisher Tomasina, before being adapted and distributed in France by Mon Journal. It is one of the most prolific jungle comic series on the French-speaking market, with over 700 issues published, and remains emblematic of popular newsstand comics.
