Vintage Henri Wintermans Café Crème advertising metal tin cigar decor
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
An old flat rectangular advertising tin, originally used for Henri Wintermans brand cigars. The visible side features an iconic graphic: on the left, a finely illustrated steaming coffee cup on a saucer in white against a beige background, and on the right, a diagonal Café Crème cigar, accompanied by the recognizable red and white logo. The inscription "CAFÉ CRÈME" in white capital letters on a red background and the name "HENRI WINTERMANS" are perfectly legible at the bottom of the tin. The whole is completed by a circular red and white crest, a distinctive sign of the brand.
The tin has a metallic-looking finish, typical of advertising cigar tins from the mid to late 20th century. The main visible colors are beige, ivory, brown, and red, with sharp contrasts that accentuate the retro style of the whole. The lid shows signs of wear, including some paint chips and light oxidation marks, mainly on the edges and surface, reinforcing its vintage authenticity.
The graphic design is sober and immediately evocative of the world of coffee and cigars, with a two-tone layout and stylized motifs. The tin is designed to catch the eye on a counter or shelf, thanks to its central illustration and contrasting colors. No dimensions are indicated on the visible side, but the compact and flat shape is characteristic of this brand's iconic cigar tins.
The lid details reveal careful printing work, with clear inscriptions and a well-centered logo. The patinated appearance of the surface, as well as the small dark spots and scratches, bear witness to past use, typical of authentic advertising objects from this period.
Based on the typography, graphics, and colors, this tin fits into the European advertising aesthetic of the 1970s to 1980s, a period during which personalized metal tins were commonly used for premium tobacco products.
Condition: Used tin, sold as is. Shows visible signs of wear on the top surface (chips, scratches, superficial oxidation marks). Patinated appearance consistent with an authentic vintage advertising object.
Did you know? The Henri Wintermans brand, founded in 1904 in the Netherlands, has become an international reference in the world of cigars thanks to its famous Café Crème, launched in 1963.
