Vintage green metal advertising box Myrtalène Fâles Laboratoires Sauba
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Old flat advertising tin, rectangular with rounded corners, as shown in the photo. It is a tin for "Myrtalène" medicinal lozenges produced by Laboratoires Sauba S.A., Montreuil-Seine. The visible side features a metallic green finish with screen-printed black and white inscriptions. The brand "Fâles" is printed in cursive letters in the upper left, followed by the product name "MYRTALÈNE" in large capital letters.
The surface of the tin displays the precise composition of the medicine, including codeine, various essences (eucalyptus, cinnamon, mint), and mentions indications for respiratory conditions and coughs. The detailed dosage for adults and children is printed. The inscription "Do not administer to children under 30 months" is also noted, typical of old regulations.
All text on this side is perfectly legible, confirming it is a pharmaceutical advertising item from the mid-20th century, likely the 1950s-1960s, given the graphics, typography, and laboratory name. The tin shows a visible patina of use on the edges, some superficial marks, and slight color wear on certain corners, attesting to its age.
The tin's structure is rigid, with a visible lid (opening system not visible here), typical of lozenge or pastille packaging from that era. No other decorations or patterns are visible; the presentation is purely informative and functional, in a retro pharmaceutical style.
The mention "V. NL 193" appears in the bottom left, likely an internal or batch reference. The sober design and use of metallic green are characteristic of old pharmaceutical tins, designed to be practical and easily identifiable in a pharmacy.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. Signs of wear, superficial scratches, visible patina on the presented side. Text fully legible. Other sides are not visible in the photo.
Did you know? Metallic advertising tins were commonly used in the 20th century for packaging lozenges, pastilles, and pharmaceutical products.
