Description

Old round pharmaceutical advertising box, as shown in the photo. The box is a solid green color with a matte finish. On the top surface, a clearly legible white inscription reads "INSTITUT METAUX" within an angled cartouche, followed by "SÉRO-COMPRIMES" and "À LA TYROTHRICINE". The overall graphic design is typical of mid-20th century pharmaceutical packaging, with simple, functional typography designed for quick reading in a pharmacy.

The box appears to be made of a plastic or bakelite-like material (material not specified, only the smooth finish and color are observable). The surface shows some signs of wear and fine scratches, indicating its age and handling. No other decoration, logo, or pattern is visible on the shown side.

The lid of the box is circular, with direct printing of the text, without relief or gilding. The contrast between the intense green hue and the white lettering accentuates the utilitarian and retro aspect of the object. The visual format is compact, suitable for storage or display on a pharmacy counter.

This type of box was commonly used for dispensing medicinal tablets or lozenges, here containing tyrothricin, a local antibiotic. It is a typical object of old pharmaceutical advertising, also known as "pharmaceutical promotional packaging" or "medical advertising box".

The visible side shows no date or specific content indication, but the overall impression evokes a vintage advertising package, probably from the 1950s to 1970s, a period when tyrothricin was widely used in lozenges.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The surface shows signs of wear, micro-scratches, and slight marks visible in the photo. No apparent breakage on the shown side.

Did you know? Tyrothricin, mentioned on this box, is a local antibiotic discovered in the 1930s and primarily used in lozenge form to treat throat infections. Advertising boxes of this type were distributed to pharmacists to promote new medications to customers.
