Vintage Miniature Gordon's Dry Gin 5cl Old Label London
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
An antique miniature spirits bottle, of the "mignonette" type, presented here in a Gordon's Dry Gin version. The bottle is made of clear glass, cylindrical in shape with rounded shoulders and a short neck topped with a cream-colored screw cap. The front label, typical of mid-century productions, is printed in yellow, red and black, with the prominent Gordon's logo as well as juniper berry and branch motifs. The mention "Distillery London" and the indication "40% Vol. 5 cl" are clearly legible, as is the full name of the manufacturer, "Tanqueray Gordon & Co Ltd".
The label shows significant wear, with visible tears and missing parts, particularly in the center and bottom. The glass shows traces of handling and a slight haze, typical of prolonged storage. No liquid is visible inside, suggesting that the bottle is empty. The screw cap, intact, displays a period patina.
The graphic style of the label, with its old typographies and botanical decor, evokes gin bottles produced in the 1950s to 1970s. The whole, placed on a carved wooden furniture, highlights its decorative and vintage character.
This type of mignonette was often used as a sample or for sale in a reduced format, with an indicated capacity of 5 cl. The label highlights the London tradition of dry gin, a specialty renowned for its purity and aromatic profile marked by juniper berries.
Visible details include the Gordon's crest, the mention "ESTD 1769", and the certification of distillation in London, which guarantee the authenticity of the brand on this antique piece. The overall finish, the label printing and the shape of the cap are characteristic of spirits distributed in Europe in the second half of the 20th century.

Did you know? The Gordon's distillery, founded in London in 1769, is one of the oldest gin houses still in operation. Miniature spirits bottles were very popular in the 1950s-1970s, especially for airlines and hotels, which used them as individual portions or advertising souvenirs.
