Description

An old rectangular lighter, presented here with a black, patinated finish. The body of the lighter shows significant signs of wear on the visible side, revealing an area of detachment or alteration of the surface layer, probably due to age or use. The upper part shows a classic ignition mechanism, with a knurled wheel and visible ventilation holes, typical of petrol or flint lighters from past decades.

The surface of the lighter has a smooth texture, but the patina and chips in the finish reveal the underlying raw material, making it impossible to precisely identify the composition from the image alone. The overall design is sober and utilitarian, without apparent decoration, reinforcing the impression of an accessory designed for everyday use rather than ornamentation.

The lighter is photographed on a light fabric, next to an old jewellery box and some metal elements, suggesting a presentation in a vintage context. No brand or inscription is legible on the visible side. The wear of the black finish and the general appearance indicate previous use and a certain age, typical of objects from the 1950s to 1970s, although it is not possible to further specify the era without other clues.

The mechanism visible on the upper part suggests classic flint and petrol operation, but no internal working elements are observable in this view. The general condition should be considered untested and in need of restoration, with obvious signs of use.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The black finish is partially worn with a clearly visible area of alteration on the main face. Unknown working condition, restoration needed.

Did you know? Flint and petrol lighters, widely used in the mid-20th century, were long considered indispensable everyday accessories. Their simple and repairable mechanism explains their longevity, and some models have become emblematic of the masculine elegance of the era.
