Description

This antique brooch is distinguished by its baroque style and its slightly domed rectangular shape. The visible side is adorned with seventeen ruby-red round rhinestones, including a central one with multicolored reflections, arranged in a symmetrical composition. The whole is enhanced by a mounting with a patinated appearance, evoking aged metal, worked with twisted motifs and relief volutes, which frame and connect the stones. A round cabochon with a golden hue completes the ornamentation on the lower right side of the piece.

The contrast between the intense brilliance of the rhinestones and the matte finish of the mounting highlights the retro inspiration of this piece of jewelry. The stones are bezel-set, which ensures their secure hold and enhances their sparkle. The brooch has an openwork structure, allowing the background to show through the motifs, and is typical of costume jewelry from the 19th or early 20th century.

In this photo, only the front face is visible. No hallmark or mark is apparent on the photographed part. The overall condition appears good, with no visible chips on the rhinestones or significant traces of oxidation on the mounting. The brooch is photographed on a dark wooden background, which accentuates the vividness of the colors and the refinement of the decor.

The ensemble evokes vintage or retro creations, perfect for accessorizing a formal outfit, a jacket, or an evening dress. This type of brooch, also called a "pin" or "decorative pin," can also be used as textile decoration or on a bag, as desired.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The front of the brooch shows no major defects visible in the photo; the rhinestones appear complete and securely set, and the mounting shows a uniform patina.

Did you know? Brooches adorned with rhinestones enjoyed great success from the late 19th century, thanks to the development of industrial crystal cutting. The term "rhinestone" comes from the name of Georg Friedrich Strass, an 18th-century jeweler who perfected the imitation of diamonds in lead crystal.
