Description

Antique Soviet brooch, badge-type, made for the 8th International Congress Against Cancer in 1962, as indicated by the Cyrillic inscription visible on the front: "ВОСЬМОЙ МЕЖДУНАРОДНЫЙ КОНГРЕСС 1962". This brooch has an elongated rectangular shape, with an enameled medallion on the left.

The main design, on a blue and white background, depicts the silhouette of the Kremlin topped with a red star, in front of a stylized globe, evoking the universality of the event. The number "VIII" in gold appears in the upper left corner, indicating the eighth edition of the congress. The brightly colored enamel highlights the details of the scene and the inscriptions.

The entire brooch has a golden metallic appearance, with a shiny finish. The surface of the base is smooth, with the exception of two visible technical cutouts, probably intended for the clasp (system not visible in this photo). No other inscriptions or marks are visible on the front shown.

The brooch displays a typical 1960s USSR style, both in its color palette and in the typography and iconography used. The quality of the enamel and the sharpness of the motifs attest to the industrial craftsmanship characteristic of Soviet commemorative badges from this period.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible front shows a beautiful overall shine despite very slight superficial marks on the gilded part, with no major wear or missing enamel on the decorated area.
