Description

This antique frame features a rectangular structure with architectural decoration inspired by the Napoleon III style. The visible side boasts a shiny gold finish, with relief ornamentation characteristic of the period: a rounded pediment adorned with a central medallion, shell elements, and foliage motifs. Two slightly raised side columns frame the central part, enhancing the architectural character of the piece.

The inner window of the frame, rectangular in shape, is highlighted by a mat visibly covered in dark red velvet, which creates a striking contrast with the exterior gilding. The reliefs of the frame include volutes, rinceaux, and stylized floral motifs typical of the decorative vocabulary of the Second Empire.

The gilding shows a pronounced patina, with traces of wear, small scratches, and some visible oxidation spots, particularly on the prominent areas and corners. The piece demonstrates careful craftsmanship, with well-defined relief execution on the front. The details of the molding, such as the column capitals and the central cartouche, are finely executed and confirm the attention given to the decoration.
