Description

This old military crate is an original American container designed for the storage and transport of ammunition. Its rectangular shape with a hinged lid and a folding handle on top is typical of ammunition boxes used by the US Army. The crate features a matte khaki finish with clearly visible yellow military markings on the front and top.

The legible inscriptions on the front indicate: "300 CARTRIDGES 7.62 MM M13 CARTONS", as well as the distribution of cartridge types ("M62", "M80") and lot references ("FUNC LOT LC L 139906", "M60 LOT"). On the lid, the mention "FOR M.G. M60-M73" is also visible, specifying compatibility with M60 and M73 machine guns. All markings are done in yellow stencil, typical of US Army equipment from the second half of the 20th century.

The crate is designed with a robust metallic appearance, with visible signs of wear: scuffs, scratches, small oxidation spots, and friction marks on the edges and surface. Welds are visible on the sides, and the folding metal handle is fixed in the center of the lid, allowing for easy transport. The lever-actuated locking system, also visible on the top, conforms to military standards.

The style and typography of the markings, as well as the khaki color and construction, clearly evoke typical production from the 1970s to 1980s for the US armed forces. This type of crate was commonly used for the secure transport of 7.62 mm caliber ammunition, particularly for supplying mounted or portable machine guns during military operations.

The visible face in the photo shows no major deformation or structural defects, but a clear authentic patina is observed, which enhances the vintage character and authenticity of the object.
