This old black and white postcard features an authentic and rare scene: two young girls in period clothing posing seated on the barrel of a military tank. The photograph is taken from a low angle, emphasizing the robustness of the armored vehicle and the spontaneity of the moment. The serrated border of the print, typical of the 1940s-1950s, gives the image an undeniable vintage charm.

The visible tank occupies the foreground, its armor marked by time, with mechanical details typical of mid-20th-century military vehicles. Rivets, hatches, and the worn texture of the metal are clearly visible, as is the barrel traversing the image. The lower part of the shot reveals partially legible inscriptions, probably of military origin, reinforcing the document's authenticity.

The two children are dressed in simple post-war dresses and vests, and their natural expressions attest to a daily life scene, far from propaganda or staging. The clear background highlights the subjects, without distraction, and the black and white contrast accentuates the documentary power of the photograph.

The overall condition of the card shows traces of time: dulled corners, slightly yellowed serrated edges, and a few superficial marks visible on the surface of the print. No handwritten text or stamp is visible on the photographed side. The shot offers a striking visual testimony to civilian life around the remnants of World War II.

The composition, grain quality, and type of photographic paper very likely place this card in the years 1940-1950, a period when many Allied tanks remained visible in public spaces after the Liberation.

Condition Used item, sold as is. Shows signs of wear and age visible in the photos.

Did you know? Allied tanks, particularly American Sherman models, remained present in many European cities after World War II, often transformed into commemorative monuments or abandoned in public spaces. They were frequently photographed in scenes of civilian life during the following decades.
