This antique postcard depicts the belfry of Arras, photographed after the bombardments of October 5, 6, 7, and 8, 1914, during World War I. The black and white image highlights the heavily damaged Gothic structure of the belfry, with numerous gaping holes and visible traces of destruction on the facade and tower. The central clock, the ground-floor arches, and the building's characteristic architectural details are clearly distinguishable.
