Visual Description

This old black and white postcard shows an ocean liner docked at the port of Le Havre. The scene depicts the ship from the front, moored, with a slightly lateral perspective that highlights the bow and the structure of the upper deck. The central funnel, the two masts, as well as the railings and architectural details of the deck are clearly visible. Several flags are visible on the masts, accentuating the maritime and period aspect of the image.

The photograph presents a classic composition of early 20th-century postcards, with a caption printed at the bottom left: "176 LE HAVRE. — Navire à quai. — LL.". The mention "LL." corresponds to the publisher Lévy et Neurdein Réunis, renowned for its urban and maritime views. An old handwritten inscription is also visible in the lower right corner, typical of period correspondence.

The liner has a light hull, highlighted by dark horizontal lines, and a large passenger cabin topped by a promenade deck. The mirrored effect of the water in the foreground accentuates the depth of the scene. The overall condition of the card shows some slight signs of wear on the corners and a small mark at the top left, without altering the main visual.

The background suggests a harbor setting without distinct architectural details, focusing attention on the ship. The contrasts and texture of the paper provide an authentic patina, reinforcing the vintage charm of this maritime correspondence.

Used item, sold as is. Postcard with slight visible signs of wear on the corners and a small discreet mark on the upper left part. Handwritten inscription present at the bottom right. Main visual well preserved.

Did you know? Postcards published by "LL." (Lévy et Neurdein Réunis) widely documented French ports and maritime life at the turn of the 20th century.
