Vintage Ham Radio QSL Card YO7BEN Romania 1970s
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Original amateur radio QSL card, issued in Romania under the call sign "YO7BEN". This card features a crisp print on cardstock, with a colorful illustration at the top made up of several superimposed QSL cards, evoking international exchanges between radio operators. The title "ROMANIA" is printed in black capital letters above the image, well-centered.
The lower part of the card prominently displays the call sign "YO7BEN" in blue, followed by the mentions "op. Electrotehnical Diplomaed Engineer EUGEN BOLBORICI". A framed area allows for the entry of radio contact details: "TO RADIO", handwritten call sign "F6GCQ", date "18.10.79", as well as other technical information (GMT, Mode, MHz, RST) filled in with pink ink. The stylized RSR (presumably Radioamatorilor din România) logo is visible on the right.
The back is not visible in the photo, so no additional information can be provided about this side. The card is photographed standing on an old wooden table, in a library-style interior, but only the front of the card is described here.
The card has a vintage look typical of the late 1970s, both in typography and graphic style, as well as in the handwritten information. The dominant colors are the off-white of the support, blue, black, and pink inks, and the multicolored central image. No major defects are visible on the displayed side, apart from very slight traces of wear on the edges, consistent with its age.
This type of QSL card was used to confirm radio contact between operators, here between Romania and France, making it an authentic testimony to the history of amateur radio communications.
Condition
Used item sold as is. Shows minor signs of wear consistent with age, with no major alterations visible on the front.
Did you know? QSL cards have been a traditional element of amateur radio culture since the early 20th century. They serve to confirm in writing a radio contact (QSO) between two remote operators, and each call sign is unique to its holder and country. Romania, under the call sign "YO", has a long tradition of amateur radio, particularly active during the 1970s-80s.
