Description

This old phone card, known as a "Télécarte," is a France Télécom model dedicated to the MINICOM service, easily identifiable by its typical 1990s visual. The visible side features a cloudy light blue background with the dominant inscription "MINICOM" at the top, accompanied by "TAPEZ 3612" (DIAL 3612) in bold letters in the center. To the left, the characteristic gold chip of microprocessor phone cards is present, a sign of a generation of cards used for both public telephone booths and certain electronic services of the time.

A visual of a Minitel, an emblematic computer of French telecommunications, appears on the right, displaying a blue screen with white text, reinforcing the retro look of this card. At the bottom, the mention "Le service de correspondance par Minitel de France Télécom." (France Télécom's Minitel correspondence service) reminds us of the main use of this phone card, as well as the inscription "TELECARTE 50" in a black box, indicating a capacity of 50 units (information visible on the front).

The card has rounded corners, with clear and colorful printing, without any apparent visual defects on the front. No major signs of wear, deep scratches, or noticeable discoloration are observable on this side. The typical plastic-coated cardboard support for phone cards is clearly visible, without being able to confirm any markings or numbering on the back (not visible in the photo).

The graphic design, colors, and typography are typical of the late 80s to 90s, reflecting the aesthetic of telecommunication objects of the era. This type of card is sought after for its retro visual and its direct link to the history of Minitel and telecommunications in France.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible front side is in very good visual condition, with no major observable defects.

Did you know? Minitel, launched in France in 1982, was one of the world's very first public videotex services, foreshadowing Internet access. France Télécom smart cards, like this one, were used not only for making calls but also for accessing interactive services like 3612 MINICOM, which allowed correspondence via the Minitel network long before the era of email.
