Description

The card shown in the photo is a chip-based phone card, "Télécarte 50" model, featuring the official SNCF logo in a blue typography underlined by a characteristic red arrow. The item has a matte, light gray finish with a clean graphic design typical of the 1990s. In the upper left, a gold chip is integrated, accompanied by a printed blue arrow next to it, indicating the insertion direction. The inscription "TELECARTE 50" appears in the lower left in a black box, confirming the card's original capacity (50 units).

The design of this SNCF phone card is distinguished by its simplicity: a light gray background, a diagonal gray band crossing the card, and the well-highlighted SNCF logo on the right. No other graphic elements or advertisements are visible on this side. The card is presented on a raw surface, allowing slight traces of use to be observed, but no major breakage or deformation is visible on the shown side.

The electronic chip, standard in French phone cards of this period, is intact and well-centered. The corners are rounded, with no apparent chips on the visible area. The typography and overall aesthetic correspond to French production from the late 20th century, reinforced by the presence of the SNCF logo in its contemporary version at the time.

This type of item was used in public phone booths, particularly in train stations and SNCF areas. It is an iconic physical medium of pre-mobile phone communications, now sought after for its historical and decorative value.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The card shows slight traces and marks of use visible on the surface, with no apparent structural damage on the presented side.

Did you know? Chip phone cards, introduced in France in the 1980s, gradually replaced tokens and magnetic stripe cards in public booths. SNCF issued several series of phone cards with its emblem, often renewed during logo changes or promotional campaigns in train stations.
