Description

This vintage phone card, known as a "télécarte," features an illustrated front dedicated to the famous Minitel, an emblematic innovation from France Télécom. The visual highlights a photograph of a black Minitel terminal against an orange desk background, accompanied by a pen and domestic decorative elements in the background. The design blends a blue section on the left, where the typical electronic chip of French phone cards is found, and an illustrated area on the right, with a "Télécarte 50" insert indicating its initial capacity of 50 units.

On the left side, the inscription "MAGIS" is clearly visible, followed by the mention "Le Minitel par France Télécom" (The Minitel by France Télécom) as well as the official logo of the historic operator. The metallic chip, embedded in the card, attests to the smart card technology deployed in France from the 80s and 90s for public telephones.

The visible surface of the card is glossy, with vibrant colors (blue, orange, black) and crisp printing. The Minitel, depicted in detail, is identifiable by its compact shape, full alphanumeric keyboard, and characteristic cathode-ray screen. No major defects are observable on the presented front: the card appears to be in good visual condition, with no apparent scratches or discoloration on the image or inscriptions.

The card as a whole evokes the technological aesthetic of the 1990s, typical of phone cards issued to promote key innovations or services from France Télécom. The object has heritage value both for its graphics and for its connection to the history of French telecommunications.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible front is in very good overall condition, with no notable defects to report.

Did you know? The Minitel, launched in France in 1982 by France Télécom, was one of the very first videotex services accessible to the general public, long before the rise of the Internet. Phone cards, meanwhile, were introduced in 1983 to replace coins in French phone booths, quickly becoming collectors' items in their own right.
