Vintage MEMOPHONE 3672 Phone Card, 50-Unit Télécarte, 90s
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This smart card telephone card, known as a "Télécarte," features a typical 1990s illustration depicting an urban phone booth and three young adults in a relaxed setting. The inscription "MEMOPHONE 3672" occupies a large portion of the front, in blue and white lettering, with the number "3672" very prominently superimposed. In the bottom right, "TELECARTE 50" indicates a capacity of 50 units. The colorful visual, predominantly blue, green, and red, evokes the urban atmosphere and public telephone use of that era.
The card has a visible electronic chip in the upper left, characteristic of French phone cards from this period. The photographic design, the characters' clothing (geometric patterns, colorful jackets), and the presence of a blue scooter reinforce the probable dating to the 1990s. No major defects are visible on the presented side: the surface appears clean, without scratches or apparent signs of wear.
The modern typography, vibrant colors, and advertising graphics are representative of the visual style of telephone media from the late 20th century. The urban scene, with trees, buildings, and street furniture, bears witness to a time when phone booths were still commonly used.
The inscription "MEMOPHONE" refers to a service or brand associated with French telephony. The mention "TELECARTE 50" corresponds to a 50-unit card, a common format at that time for public telephone communications.
The visible front shows neither a serial number nor a precise date, but all the graphic and technical elements place this card in the 1990s, the heyday of the smart card "Télécarte" in France.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The visible side is in good overall condition, with no major apparent defects. No creases, ink marks, or significant scratches on the photographed surface.
Did you know? Smart card phone cards, introduced in France in the early 1980s, reached their peak in the 1990s, before the rise of mobile phones. 50-unit models were among the most common and were primarily used in public phone booths, which have now disappeared from the urban landscape.
