Description

Chip telephone card known as "Télécarte 50", illustrated with a commemorative scene of the June 1944 D-Day landings. The visible side features a two-part composition: at the top, a black and white photograph of Allied soldiers landing on the beaches of Normandy; at the bottom, a color image of a smiling child, waving and holding several flags (United States, United Kingdom, Canada). The whole is enhanced by a blue band with the inscription: "In June 44, we told them 'thank you'. In June 94, tell them 'welcome'." The location of the microchip is visible on the left side.

The card features vibrant colors on the child's portrait, contrasting with the black and white upper part. The graphics evoke a 1990s commemorative style, in homage to the 50th anniversary of D-Day. In the lower right corner, the mention "Télécarte 50" indicates the original capacity of telephone units.

No specific brand or reference is visible on the presented side. The overall condition appears good in the photo, with no obvious scratches, cracks, or signs of wear on the displayed surface. The visible corners and edges appear intact, with a matte or slightly satin finish.

This type of card was used in France in the 1990s to make calls from public telephone booths. Commemorative illustrations were common to mark major historical events, and this one explicitly refers to the memory of D-Day and the fraternity between Allied nations.

The visible side shows no pronounced wear, the chip appears intact, and the illustrated surface retains its original luster. No other elements or text are legible on this side apart from those mentioned above.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The card presents a neat visual aspect on the front side, with no apparent defects on the visible area.

Did you know? French chip telephone cards were launched on a large scale in the 1980s and 1990s, gradually replacing telephone tokens. Commemorative editions, such as the one for the 50th anniversary of D-Day, have become graphic testimonies of contemporary history and collective memory.
