Description

This lot brings together a large number of Ultraman and Kaiju photo cards from an official Japanese collection. The cards are carefully stored in an open box, revealing their edges and a few examples on the front. One of the visible cards features the famous hero Ultraman in costume, against a natural background, surrounded by a red frame adorned with white star motifs typical of Japanese tokusatsu aesthetics. Several cards feature Japanese inscriptions, as well as color illustrations of characters and monsters associated with the Ultraman series.

Most of the cards show a homogeneous patina, with slightly browned edges, indicating vintage paper or paper that has acquired a vintage tint over time. The exposed visuals reveal printed illustrations, faithful to the iconography of 1960s to 1980s tokusatsu series, with vibrant colors and graphic borders. The visible Japanese inscriptions, including some red characters on a white background and price mentions, suggest an edition intended for the Japanese market, probably sold in bookstores or kiosks when the Ultraman series was released or re-broadcast.

The presentation of the lot in a light gray cardboard box accentuates the archiving or collection aspect, while the presence of a yellow cord on a card could indicate a grouping system or a special edition. The visible cards all appear to be rectangular, with a portrait orientation. The reverse side is not visible, in accordance with the instructions, and no dimensions are provided.

The visuals display great graphic consistency, characteristic of official collections or licensed series. The ensemble evokes a stationery or collectible product typical of the Showa era, where Ultraman and Kaiju merchandise was particularly popular in Japan. The presence of numerous examples suggests a significant lot, comprising collectible cards, promotional photos, or illustrated sheets, all made of paper or thin cardboard.

The dominant colors are red, white, and multicolored illustrations, with graphic borders and typical mid-20th-century printing. No major defects appear on the visible side, apart from the natural patina of the paper. The inscriptions, illustrations, and visual organization are consistent with official products related to the Ultraman franchise.

Condition

These photo cards are used and show visible age patina on the edges. They are sold as is, as seen in the photo.
