Description

This audio CD presents a compilation of opera masterpieces, released by EMI in collaboration with Éditions Atlas and the Guilde Internationale du Disque. The front cover, clearly visible, features dominant burgundy and gold colors, typical of cultural productions from the late 20th century. The main visual shows a photograph of the interior of an opera house, with its gilded ornaments and stage curtain, evoking the prestigious atmosphere of grand European lyrical venues.

The top of the cover displays in capital letters "CHEFS-D’ŒUVRE DE L’OPÉRA" (OPERA MASTERPIECES), followed by a list of famous titles from the lyrical repertoire: The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, The Barber of Seville, Norma, The Damnation of Faust, Faust, La Traviata, Nabucco, Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, Aïda, Carmen, Tosca, Madame Butterfly, La Bohème, Tannhäuser, Pagliacci, Tales of Hoffmann. This selection evokes famous pieces, ideal for an introduction to or a deeper understanding of the genre.

The EMI "His Master's Voice" logo is clearly visible at the top right, guaranteeing a classic quality production. At the bottom left, the "Éditions Atlas" logo confirms the edition, while the mention "Guilde Internationale du Disque" appears on the right, highlighting the encyclopedic dimension of the collection.

The standard transparent plastic case shows some traces and scratches from use on the surface, typical of a used CD, without affecting the legibility of the cover. No other accessories or booklet are visible on the exposed side.

The overall appearance, graphics, and selection of works suggest an edition from the 1990s to early 2000s, a period when thematic classical music collections were frequently distributed by subscription or newsstand sales.
